The Court

The Glittawitch are the first inhabitants of Á Màrrach Àilean. They formed the Country and The City into what it is now and have always ruled over it. However, in Modern times the Humans have had to control it to better feel safe with the Glittawitch. However, The Glittawitch Court is what ultimately handles the AMA Community.

Every house has a leader. If it is a male then they are called Lords. If it is a female they are Ladies. The Second-In-Command of houses are not titled "Lord/Lady" but simply understood that they are of great importance. They are leaders as well and would likely (but not always) step in if something were to happen to the current Lord/Lady of their house.

The Court is the ruling governing body which presides over all of AMA, and which all the inhabitants and businesses etc are subject to. The Court functions as a democracy; that is, each of the House's leaders (Lord or Lady) has an official Voice in the Court. The Court is supervised by the Queen, who has the final say on all decision matters. The Queen has her Brigade, some of which serve as her advisors in these matters. The Lords/Ladies have their own advisors, by way of their House positions.

However, in the Court, only the Lords and Ladies have Voices, or votes. The Lords and Ladies are evenly split; that is, there are 20 Houses, and thus, 20 Lords/Ladies. Therefore, in a tie-situation, the Queen's vote will always overrule. The Queen can also, at any time, overrule the Court's decisions; however, this is very rare. Until the Third Court War, the Lords and Ladies have always been 10 and 10. But since the recent tragedy, some compromises had to be made.

Usually the Court can come to a conclusion on a given problem and swiftly move on once it is dealt with. That is to say, those who did not get their way usually are not too indebted to it, since few things matter so greatly to people who live for so long. However, there have been three times in glishtory thus far when the Court could not reconcile their decision, and became what is called today, "hung."

This inabilitiy to reconcile led to the First and Second Court Wars. The First Court War occured at the end of the Organization, when the glittawitch had first assembled into functionable groups. The Court had to decide which Houses worked, and which didn't; which served the future of the glish, and which would need to be revamped. Seeing as the Court was composed of the leaders of those very Houses, there was a lot of hostility.

At this time Tholk Noa, the first radical revolutionary glittawitch organization, was created. They helped bring on the First Court War, hoping to bring a better life for the glittawitches out of it, and they did. With the help of Tholk Noa, the Court was able to decide: Tìorail and Faileas were decided unfit, and Feayr, Réalta, and Ahmar were reshaped. From this time, the Radical Houses were created. The Lords and Ladies of these Houses stepped up, and the Court was functional once again.

Later, the next hung Court happened in the medieval era of the glish. Humans began to appear more frequently, and the Court was much in arms about what to do about the recent developments occuring in the world around them. This confusion was taken advantage of by Osiris, Shaltoth, and the Lady of Painborn; through these people a new rift was caused in the Court, causing mass chaos and the tragedy that ripped through the Royal Family.

This war is called the First Original War because it was both begun mainly by an Original (Osiris) and because it is the first war during which glish openly battled one another not on the basis of politics, but on the basis of good and evil. Some allied with the destruction and anarchy, and some battled it. When the war ended, House Diavol was formed of the true believers of Shaltoth; House Uilioc also arose, and House Celtigar became House Di Vulp. In this way, the Court resettled.

The third hung Court was the recent horror of the Third Court War, when the events of the Second Court War were dredged back up, as were all the latent problems and strifes that had been buried along with it. After the quick but very bloody war, the Court is re-establishing itself once again in the wake of the newest calm. Because some great Lords and Ladies died, it has taken time to find good replacements.

After a Leader has fallen or stepped down from position, a vote is determined by the four court members; Guardian, Runai, Ceangal, and Spiaire as well as three random house members. That makes seven votes, so someone will be elected the new Lord/Lady.
The Second-In-Command is always in the running for the new position, and the Four Court Positions may introduce others for the running. They speak amongst each other until the Four Court members pick two people to decide between, and that is when the final vote, with the three random houses members involved, counts.
